The Sacraments
Baptism:
is normally celebrated during the weekend Masses except in emergency or other exceptional circumstances and is preceded by a period of preparation for the parents. Parents are asked to contact the priest as soon as they begin to consider baptism for their baby.
Confirmation:
is celebrated from time to time for young people of Secondary School age. Young people who would like to prepare for thesacrament are asked to speak to the priest for details.
Reconciliation: (Confession)
The priest will be available in the Confessional at St Joseph’s on Saturdays from 5.00—5.45 pm. The priest is also available before or after any Mass or at any other time on request for face to face confession.
Marriage:
Couples considering marriage are asked to contact the priest at least six months before the date they would like to celebrate their marriage.
Sacrament of the Sick:
If you know that you are to be admitted to hospital or you become significantly ill please ask the priest for the Sacrament of the Sick.
If you or a member of your family is admitted to Hospital please tell the priest so that he can inform the Hospital Chaplain. This is important because current hospital admission procedures do not always identify Catholic patients.
Holy Communion for the Sick and Housebound:
Our Ministers take Holy Communion to housebound parishioners regularly – please make a point of telling the priest if you become housebound or become aware of another parishioner who is housebound.
